Yes, plastic and lightweight, only bad thing was after three years of abuse the bulb finally began to strobe--looking for a new one now. Loved it, used for work and personal everyday use at work/traveled with me on numeous bicycle trips. Excellent for reading at night or finding your way to the little room. You'd have to jump on it to break it, dropped it 12 ft from boiler room ceiling made numerous banks on the way down and still worked. Only thing I ever broke on it was the clip. Got it hooked on something and not realizing gave it a yank. Batteries would have less than a volt apiece and light was still bright.
