User Review: Raichle Chilkoot
Rating: ![]()
Materials: Leather
Use: rough trail, some backpacking
Break-in Period: none
Weight: 1.75 kg.
Price Paid: $170 CDN
On the positive side there was no break-in period. The boots felt great from day one. The Gore-Tex lining worked great for about six months and then seemed to lose its effectiveness.
On the negative the boots have only lasted nine months. The toe rand has been a continual problem for all but the first three months. The seam inside the boot (above the heel) wore through after about six months and has been held together with duct tape. In fairness to the boots they were probably too light for my day hiking in the mountains and recent backpacking.
Next boots will be much heavier.
In summary very comfortable and reasonable dry but for light hiking only.
