It is a fair bag. I get a little cold in the head and toes but nothing extremely bad (but some nights it has kept me from getting a good night's sleep). I have tested it in snow once but most of my uses with it have been in the southern California winter and spring. Overall this is a good beginner bag. I would not buy it again, not because of its abilities but mostly because the REI employee thought that his long was the longest on the market (I'm 6'8") and it is very tight on my frame.
