These pants seem to have disappeared from REI's catalog, so this review may be in vain. That said, I think these are great pants and wonder why they have apparently been discontinued.

The REI Winter Momentum Pants are simple and clean, without a lot of gratuitous bells and whistles--one reason I like them so much. They are extremely comfortable and are made of a lightweight softshell material. The inside is brushed, so is very comfortable against bare skin.

I have run in them, snowshoed in them, and hiked in them. They have an elastic waist with a drawcord to cinch it up. Two-way stretch really helps. The articulated knees make them fit really nicely, and the legs taper, which is great for wearing gaiters over them. So many of the similar pants have huge box-cut legs that give you a lot of extra material under gaiters. These pants protect against the wind very well and wick perspiration well.

My only quibble with them is the need for more pockets. And the price is a bit steep, but similar pants with more pockets are upwards of $150, so the price is competitive.
