- REI

You finally figured out a way to spend the winter living in a snowbound yurt and brought the Rossignol BC 110 Positrack Ski to be the horse that gets you around the rugged and empty hills you now call home. Every time you try and head out, though, you're accosted by a crazy hermit with a long beard and his wolf-dog, who bare teeth and wave guns in your face until you're forced to turn around and go somewhere else. Luckily, the BC 110 is incredibly versatile, thanks to its Positrack base that eliminates the need for kick wax while maintaining excellent glide, and an LDC wood core that has milled channels throughout to minimize weight, so you can scarper up and over hills before the hermit knows you're gone. Active Cap construction utilizes a flexible design to increase float and performance in uneven snow, and sandwiches it in a multi-directional fiberglass laminate for torsional stiffness when you're pushing the BC 110 downhill with a half-wild canine tearing at your tails. The BC 110 isn't the widest ski in Rossignol's Nordic touring lineup, but at 110mm in the tip it's it has enough float to prevent you getting bogged down. It also boasts a slightly rockered tip and wide sidecut designed to keep you stable in soft and variable conditions. Full-length metal edges and a taller camber profile let the BC hold its own on harder snow and make short work of chop and windslab--if only they could find a way around that aggro-hermit and his devil beast.
