Salomon X Ultra Trek GTX

rated 5 of 5 stars
photo: Salomon X Ultra Trek GTX backpacking boot

Comfortable and rugged.

Pros

  • Very comfortable
  • Sturdy
  • Great grip

I love these boots. I have a Morton's Neuroma and achilles tendonitis so really wanted a wide foot but with ankle support. I bought the Salomon Quest 4D, which are also very comfortable but they were quite stiff and I found the back of the boot was really aggravating my achilles tendon.

I got the X-Ultra Trek and am loving them. They're very much like the Quest 4D but a bit more flexible. Same great grip, in fact the lugs look even more defined and more rugged, also Goretex and leather construction. But the X-Ultra are only 440 grams, rather than the already light 560 grams of the Quest 4D.

I'm taking them on the North Coast Trail so will update my review when I'm back.
