Great Shoe. Bought it for its unique lacing system.

Rating: rated 4.5 of 5 stars
Materials: gore-tex
Break-in Period: a week
Price Paid: $160

Great Shoe. Bought it for its unique lacing system. Very easy to throw on and keep loose while you lounge around camp. Great sole on the trail against difficult terrain, but I find that the Gore-tex upper needs to be reinforced with some Nikwax to be truly waterproof.

Overall, a great trail shoe, however, the price could go down.

This shoe is amazing and by far the best trail running…

Rating: rated 4.5 of 5 stars
Materials: gore-tex
Use: trail running on mountains
Break-in Period: August-September
Weight: dont know
Price Paid: 99 euros

This shoe is amazing and by far the best trail running shoe I tried. So far I used New balance, Adidas and Nike models, but nothing can compare with the XT Wings!

Very comfortable, foot stays in right place without the toe touching the shoe on downhill running, true waterproof and keeps you running.

Downsides: the only reason I did not rate it 5 stars is that after about 15 times of running, the right lace system broke and after 4 more the left one broke too at exactly the same point. The store did NOT cover the damage, although the shoe was only 2 months old and prompt me to buy an other system to replace it, which was not by Salomon, was not the same as the original and cost 9 euros!

Other than that Salomon did a great job but need to improve the lace material.
