Chaco Men's Z/1 Unaweep

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Chaco's Z/1 Unaweep is a great canoeing sandal. While I do list out a number of cons, I would recommend these for anyone searching for a durable sandal. I purchased the Z/1 specifically for my first trip to the Boundary Waters in 2014. I wanted footwear that would allow me to wade in and out of a canoe and move straight into portaging. I choose the Z/1 over the more popular Z/2 so that I would be able to slip on a warm pair of wool socks if the night turned cool. I felt the toe strap of the Z/2… Full review

Keen Women's Newport H2

rated 5 of 5 stars Perfect i haven’t tried hiking with a pack on in hot weather with these, but they are my summer faves: walking, rock hopping through water, it’s all good. I needed no break-in period. These felt like a dream right out of the box. There’s a deep heel cup, generous arch support and roomy toe box. The lacing system is quick and easy, the sandals offer great traction on wet rock.   As comfy as my trusty old Birkenstocks, but completely amphibious. Can’t go wrong with these.   Full review

Xero Shoes Z-Trail Sandals

rated 2 of 5 stars I tried these on a couple of hikes, for use as a camp shoe, for swimming and creek crossing, etc. But I soon gave up on them, not just due to the poor sole protection and the lateral movement that were cited, but also due to dirt and gravel quickly getting into the sandals (drier conditions) and water (wetter conditions). The lightweight simply wasn't worth it to me. I recommend something sturdier unless you have ideal trail conditions and feet that can handle the stress. Added: Try "Gold Pigeon"… Full review

Chaco Men's Z/1 Classic

rated 4.5 of 5 stars These sandals will keep you comfortable all day long. They are sturdy, have good traction, and will hold up no matter what you put them through. These are one of the best sandals you can buy. I have gone on numerous float trips and even a 5-mile hike in the mountains in them and they have held up. They have pretty good traction so you can hike fairly well in them. I also never have gotten any blisters in them. One downside is that when walking in water they tend to get pea gravel stuck between the… Full review

Tredagain Guadalupe Sandal

rated 4 of 5 stars Tredagain not only makes quality shoes, but they are environmentally aware while they make great footwear. Occasionally, I get the awesome opportunity to review products in exchange for an honest review. This time, I had the pleasure of testing out a pair of sandals by Tredagain! The Tredagain Guadalupe Sandal rocks out on their specialty...recycled rubber from tires. Here is a quote from their site about what they do: "TREDAGAIN partners with Austin Rubber Company LLC which manufactures a de-vulcanized… Full review

Xero Shoes Z-Trail Sandals

rated 4 of 5 stars Xero’s Z-Trail is a minimalist sandal in a number of ways. The sole and midsole together are less than a centimeter thick, with no thick heel or arch support. They secure your feet with a hook and loop heel strap and a continuous polyester strap that you pull to tighten. They are unexpectedly good at protecting the soles of your feet for such a light and flexible sandal, and traction is very good to excellent. Lateral support is an issue, though, and you can definitely feel roots and sharp rocks… Full review

OOFOS OOlala Slide Sandal

rated 5 of 5 stars This sandal is touted as a recovery sandal, but frankly I use it as an everything sandal. I walk the dog in them, use them at the beach, use them after running, use them around the house, use them at the campsite after a long day of hiking… they are so comfortable that I don’t really care to wear any other sandals. As mentioned above, I use these sandals for everything. They have been on all surfaces and help up very well. There was no break-in time needed. They have felt great from day one… Full review

OOFOS OOriginal Sport Sandal

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Single purpose shoes that work perfectly for the role they were designed for. They are incredibly comfortable and help your feet recover but not useful outside of that type of situation. I would highly recommend it for athletes or hikers who will be spending long hours on their feet or putting their feet through high-intensity workouts. I got the Oofos sport sandals to review and tried them out on a recent several night camping trip which involved many miles of hiking. The first thing you notice… Full review

Chaco Men's Z/Cloud 2

rated 4 of 5 stars A meaningful upgrade over Chaco's Z/2 classic sandal. The Z/Cloud 2's topsole and midsole are softer and more forgiving than previous versions. Chaco's new-ish proprietary sole is grippy on wet boat surfaces and rocks. The straps and adjustability are about the same as previous versions, but don't undersell the ability to adjust them and not worry about river grime fouling the closure. I have been wearing Chacos for about ten years, but I will try to start from zero and explain what these water… Full review
