The shoe is extremely comfortable and great on rocky (scree) trails because it has one of the stickiest outsoles I have experienced. The toe box is roomy, but the shoe is not sloppy because of the narrow mid foot and heel counter.
I have plantar fasciitis and wouldn't know it while wearing this shoe. Nice advancement over the Xodus 6.0, although I miss that shoe as a hiking shoe.
- Grip on outsole
- It's a bit on the heavy side
- Occasionally picks up rocks due to tread pattern
The shoe is very comfortable and plush inside. Great cushioning protects feet over rocky surfaces, particularly scree, without the necessity of a rock plate. I have plantar fasciitis and the shoe is just about perfect for me as I have had no pain running in it.
Great fit. The toe box is wide without making the shoe sloppy because the mid foot and heel cup are narrow allowing the foot to be locked in when laced up. The mesh is very breathable.
I previously used the Xodus 6.0 and was initially sorry that Saucony stopped making it, particularly because I loved the outsole just for hiking. But the Xodus ISO's outsole is great for running or hiking and the material in it is very sticky making me surefooted over rocky terrain.
It is a bit on the heavy side from its stats, but I haven't noticed it. Only other downside is that due to the tread pattern it will occasionally pick up rocks that I have to remove after the run. However, while I was running I did not notice that the shoe picked up a rock and it did not affect the shoe's comfort or performance. And as usual, nice styling.
Nice job, Saucony.
