User Review: Scarpa Assault
Rating: ![]()
Materials: Leather
Use: Water Ice/Mtneering
Break-in Period: A While
Weight: ?
Price Paid: $$$$$
Having recently just got out on ice again, I was reminded how great my Assaults are! Benefits: Excellent sensitivity, huge rand-combined with a gaitor, they are impervious to water in all its states. Rand also is great for durability, jams, etc. Excellent fit-Lacing can be left just "snug" in toe area and CRANKED in the uppers for great fit and warmth. Extremely rigid CF midsole. Super-burly leather, etc.
Climbs as well as the Nepal Top's, and will probably outlast them. HOWEVER! They ain't cheap. Approx 100 fun tickets more than the Sportiva's. Also, stiffness makes them less comfy for the long hauls. But if you want to stick that mono on a dime edge and toe off it, these are it. They'll climb hard forever, and you won't!
