One boot free to ski it all While we may all lust over a room full of skis and boots specifically suited for unique trips or conditions, space and budget constraints typically make it unrealistic. The Scarpa Freedom offers a solution; one boot that can do it all. It's plenty powerful enough to be your resort-specific binding, but with an excellent tour-mode and relatively light weight, it won't hold you back in the backcountry. The Women's Freedom SL is just like the men's, but with a lower cuff and women's specific fit. What really sets the Freedom SL apart from other "crossover" boots is the functional tour mode. The 27 degree range of virtually friction-free cuff motion is very impressive for a boot of this caliber. And while they may not feel like slippers, they are far from clunky at 7 lbs 10 oz per pair. The Freedom comes out of the box with tech binding compatible soles and sticky rubber. If you would like to run these boots on a traditional downhill binding without a sliding AFD plate, the soles can be easily swapped out for DIN compatible soles. Although there is no in-your-face carbon fibre weave showing on the Freedom, carbon fibre is part of what makes this boot so special. A carbon frame runs the full length of the boot; the boot plastic is actually molded around this carbon frame. The interchangeable sole blocks lock into metal hardware directly fitted to the carbon frame. This construction reduces slop from poor sole block connections as well as creating a super stiff platform to transfer power from your legs to the ski. Features & Benefits a 101mm last. a Vibram mountain plus sole. a Pebax Rnew construction. a Thermo-moldable liner designed with touring in mind. a Ride Power Block walk mode. a 10-18 degrees of forward lean.
The Scarpa Women's Freedom SL Alpine Touring Boot is Queen of the Mountain in the Scarpa freeride line. It's the burliest, with a 120 flex index, but almost a pound lighter than the standard Freedom. The SL also uses a lighter Intuition liner and more aggressive sole. Compared to Scarpa's touring boots, the Freedom SL is more versatile (added alpine capability) and it's stiffer and more powerful, but it does weigh more than the cream-of-the-crop AT. It has a Ride Power Block that delivers frictionless motion for efficient climbing and locks in back support for superpower transmission on the downhill. For the woman who need a boot that can charge off the lift in alpine bindings or slip efficiently into the backcountry with Tech (TLT) bindings, the Freedom SL has few equals. And then there's the fit. Rather than rebadge the men's version with a little pink and a soft flex, Scarpa's engineers made the last a little smaller and the cuff a little lower to match the shape and size of a woman's foot and calf. The Pbax Rnew shell overlaps for gap-less fit. Its Carbon Core technology wraps it around a bomber carbon frame for lightweight and allover stiffness for precision control. The Intuition FR Speed liner boot is molded with the shell for a seamless fit and optimally powerful performance, key in making the distinction between a competent alpine/AT boot and one that kills it. The 101-millimeter anatomic last features Axial Power Control for lateral stiffness and sensitivity. The interchangeable Vibram sole gives you lugged tenacity when hiking over scree or down-climbing into a rocky chute. You'll feel the advantage in an instant and respond with a peaceful mind. After all, you don't want to charge down a finger chute with already-frayed nerves. This is called Freedom.
Blending high-performance, touring compatibility, and a category-leading cuff range (27 degrees) in a women's specific last and anatomical design, SCARPA has created a truly multipurpose all mountain machine. Scarpa's proprietary Carbon Core Technology yields a 120 flex index and alpine performance, and is bolstered by a custom styled Intuition liner for warmth and comfort. It's finished with superior biomechanical walk ergonomics, all at 3lbs 6oz per boot (size 25). Interchangeable soles that are bolted through the carbon-fiber frame offer compatibility with any ski binding, from alpine to tech bindings, in a design that improves strength and power transfer to the ski, whether you're charging a resort's testpieces or tackling big lines in the backcountry.
