I'm a long-time fan of Scarpa boots, having used the same sturdy pair of Alps for mountaineering for several years now. Couldn't resist the Ladakh as a moderate to heavy backpacking and trekking boot. Great ankle support, excellent sole, and useful protective rubber rand around the entire boot. The Ladakhs broke in quickly, within two long days of Alpine walking and handled scree, boulders and rain without a hitch. But why do North Americans have to got to Europe to find what may be Scarpa's best sturdy trekking boot?!
