The Scarpa SL is truly a fabulous boot. The support is rock solid, the sole is stiff and grippy, and they can take a soaking and still keep your feet as dry as a bone. These are quite possibly the perfect hiking boot, or would be except for two problems, one of which is cosmetic. First, the instep is unusually low, which created some discomfort after long periods of usage. Second, the color, which is almost a "rust", makes the boots look cheap (a friend called them "fava's", after the dicount shoe store). This, however, is inconsequential as far as the boot's performance.
