Beyond Clothing A5 Soft Shell Shirt

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Keeps you warm when need it, and cool when you don't. Great for areas that are cooler in the morning but warm up throughout the day. As a Ranger with TheDyrt, I sometimes get the opportunity to try out different products and recently I had the opportunity to try out the A5 Soft Shell shirt from Beyond Clothing. The biggest thing that I loved about the shirt was how light weight it was. I love taking clothing in the backcountry that works well, but also has a lighter weight than similar products. Icebreaker Oreti Short Sleeve Shirt

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Easily the most practical summer shirt for outdoor or casual wear. As you're heading outdoors and wondering what to pack to be as light as possible, look no further than this shirt. It breathes, it's light and comfortable, it will never smell bad (almost), and it's made pretty tough. You can also fit a map in the two big front pocket that are easily accessible. Same quality build we'd expect from Icebreaker. Buttons snap super tight and zippers feel like quality. Take this shirt and head out without… Full review

Peter Storm Long Sleeve Travel Shirt

rated 4 of 5 stars Tough shirt made of heavy gauge nylon. The main point of interest in this shirt, and the reason I am reviewing it, is the heavy gauge material from which it is made. Most nylon (polyamide) shirts are flimsy things designed for comfort in hot weather rather than toughness. This shirt is the precise opposite. To give you an idea, my size medium weighs 309g (10.9z) when the average shirt weighs less than 250g (8.8oz). If you need a heavy duty nylon shirt for whatever reason—for instance, a shirt… Full review

REI Men's Quarter-Zip Fleece Pullover

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This light fleece pullover is great for both cool evenings at camp and as a "sleep shirt" on cool nights. I bought this light fleece pullover on the recommendation in a thread at Backpacking Light and was very happy that the pullover was exactly "as advertised" by the poster.  On a trip to Hidden Forest in Nevada's Desert Wildlife Refuge in mid May we camped at 8,000 feet. The evening was windy and cool so I needed this fleece over my long sleeved polyester shirt and  under my GTX PacLite parka. Full review

Patagonia Men's R1 Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars The most versatile mid-layer I own. I wear this as one of my layers in the coldest temperatures all the way through stuffing in my day pack and putting it on for stops on cool spring or fall hikes. Patagonia thought hard about what hikers and climbers need when they designed this mid-layer. Only downside is that the technical nature of it makes it less appealing for wearing it in town. THE BASICS The Patagonia R1 Hoody might be my favorite piece of trail clothing. It's a mid-layer in the winter,… Full review

Dale of Norway Bykle Masculine Sweater

rated 5 of 5 stars A beautifully styled Merino wool sweater that not only looks great but is warm and comfortable. You have to love a sweater with masculine in the name. This Dale of Norway Bykle Masculine Sweater puts together traditional Norwegian styling and Merino wool in a beautifully crafted sweater. The superfine 16.5 micron Merino wool used throughout provides for a super smooth feel will providing excellent insulation against the cold. The collarless 4 button sweater can be worn as a base layer or alone. Full review

ExOfficio Terma 1/4 Zip

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a great cool-season hiking shirt. It's breathable, warm, and feels great against the skin. The ExOfficio Terma 1/4 zip, long-sleeved shirt has been my favorite hiking shirt this winter. I love the Brandy Heather color, a deep wine color that goes nicely with any of my standard hiking pants in varying shades of khaki, tan and gray. On chilly mornings, the quarter-zipper gets zipped all the way up and I layer on all of my other shields against the admittedly wimpy California cold: fleece jacket,… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Canyon Shirt Long Sleeve

rated 5 of 5 stars Tough, durable, cool shade. The best summer hiking and work wear I have found. I'm a landscaper in hot Tucson where 1/4 second of shade from a flying by airplane is helpful. Dealing with desert heat and plants takes toughness as so many plants have thorns and needles. Yet this is the coolest wearing shady shirt I've ever found. Had these over 10 years, yet they do not show any wear and I wear them often. Still don't have a tear in either, an amazing feat in the desert. Full review

Ridge Merino Heist 1/2 Zip Hoody

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Heist 1/2 Zip Hoodie is an ideal mid-to-heavy weight hoodie that does an admirable job in warm as well as cold weather. This sleek top is as perfect around town as it is performing on the trail or slopes. The Heist pullover is an ideal all-around piece of gear that will happily meet the needs of the most demanding active outdoors person! SPECS 270g/m Weight UPF 50+ Flatlocked Seams 1/2 Zip Pullover Low-Profile Hood Thumbholes Chest Zip Pocket Founded in 2014, Ridge Merino is a relatively new… Full review
