User Review: Sierra Designs Ascent Jacket

This jacket was nice, highly breathable, fit nice and looked nice. However after a few packing trips the waterproof coating broke down. The jacket constantly wetted out in rain storms which should not be a problem (I hate to see what a washing machine does to this jacket if it cannot handle a bit of rain!).

Those air vents are a total flaw in the jacket and should be removed. (I thought gore-tex was already breathable.) It does not have a removable hood but does have nicer zippers than most models. If you read the materials inside the jacket it says it has a flourolite laminate (others say GORE-TEX).... hummmmm.... sounds kind of fishy.

It sounds like no testing has gone into this jacket and it is obvious Sierra D. bought a generic jacket and sewed their name on it. I have seen many Sierra Designs and read many reviews, hopefully this jacket was just a rotten apple in the bunch. If you like Sierra D. I agree they are nice, just watch out for this imitation.
