"I purchased one of the newer model Silva Ranger compasses after borrowing a friend's original model and falling in love. The differences are clear, but the newer product is still an acceptable choice (versus the original, which receives my top marks in all fields)."

"This is a simple, robust, and reliable piece of equipment. I have used a Silva Ranger for over 20 years; I still have my original one (a model 15T). It is simple to plot an azimuth with, adjusting declination is a 'breeze', and it is so field friendly."

"I used to own one of the older Silva Ranger compasses (made by Silva of Sweden) and it had been accurate and reliable. After many years of use I lost it, so recently I picked up a newer Silva Ranger compass and was amazed at the difference in manufacture quality."
