REI Unisex AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad

rated 2.5 of 5 stars A decent idea that in practice didn't work for me. The Air Rails only help to keep you on the mat if you have it at close to full inflation, which I never do for comfort. A short review of this item as I didn't keep it for long... I bought this on an unexpected trip out of town to help my 80-year-old parents move. The new place didn't have a lot of room so I ran by REI with the intention of using the pad for a couple of nights and evaluating it as a replacement for my aging REI Lite Core pad, and… Full review

Sea to Summit Comfort Light Insulated Mat

rated 3.5 of 5 stars The Comfort Light Insulated Mat is part of Sea to Summit’s new line of air mats, which feature quilted patterned “Air Sprung Cells” as opposed to traditional baffles. The Comfort Light is a hybrid between the Ultralight and the Comfort Plus in the series, meaning that it isn’t the lightest or the warmest of the group, but it is the lightest of the group with a “three season” R-Value (4.2 or about 10 degrees F). It uses a single layer of cells and insulation in the head and leg zone and… Full review

Big Agnes Insulated Double Z

rated 4 of 5 stars The Big Agnes Insulated Double Z sleeping pad is a moderately lightweight full length sleeping pad that is very comfortable for limited 3-season use. It falls a bit short of its temperature specification, so is a bit on the cool side for early spring or late fall. The interesting internal “guy-line” structure makes it very stable against rolling off in the middle of the night, but potentially can shorten its usable lifetime. Overall, the Double Z is very good, though it does have some flaws. Full review

Big Agnes Air Core

rated 4 of 5 stars Sleeping comfort is worth the hassle. Great pad to sleep on during warmer months (there is an insulated version for colder temperatures). The version I own is a rectangular one. I'm able to fit on the pad head to toe (5'8" here). Pad is "easy" to set up: just unroll and breathe to inflate. Be prepared to huff and puff for at least 2 minutes to get it inflated. The sleeping comfort is worth the hassle. Some reviewers complain that the pad is "noisy" but it hasn't bothered me nor my sleeping companions. … Full review

Ozark Trail Elevated Anywhere Bed Air Mattress

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Sat new unused for about a year till needed. As I opened the package pieces of black plastic fell out of the bag. It looks like the foot part that the struts hinge on are made of barf. This one is broken right out of the bag. I took it to Walmart and they REFUSED to replace or refund. More and more I buy less and less from that store. It's junk and overpriced junk at that. No wonder their sales are down. Not much more I could possibly say about this expensive piece of junk. It never worked for me,… Full review

Sea to Summit UltraLight Insulated Mat

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Lightweight comfy pad, gives a great night's sleep. I was intrigued by Sea to Summit's new line of sleeping pads, so when the REI dividend and coupon came out, I decided to give it a try. The first thing I notice was how small the packed size was. I'm always trying to put less bulk in my back, so this is good news for me. I was taken by the pad's interesting new valve design. There are essentially two "plugs" in one. You open the outer plug to inflate, and both plugs to deflate. I find that it takes… Full review

Klymit Insulated Static V

rated 4 of 5 stars Very light and packable full length pad, comfortable. For the size and weight of this pad, it's hard to beat. Packs compact and light. Not self-inflating, takes about 10-12 breaths of air but inflates surprisingly quickly. Very comfortable and warm; I've used this down to -15° Celsius.  I'm 6'1" 195 lbs, no issues bottoming out, and the v-shaped air cells keep me from sliding around. As others have said, it is difficult to get all the air out when rolling it up to put back in the stuff sack. Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's Trail Lite

rated 4 of 5 stars At 1lb 11oz, it's not the lightest but does a fine job for 3-seasons. I've been using the Trail Lite for two years now and I've always been pleased with it. Knowing there are new pads out there that offer more loft, higher R-value, and lighter weight, my curiosity has been piqued but for now, the Trail lite is what I know. I would say that overall this pad has always served me well and has lived up to my expectations of it.The bag inflates to approximately 1 1/4" thick. Not a great amount of loft… Full review

Therm-a-Rest EvoLite

rated 4 of 5 stars The Evolite weighs in at about 1.5 pounds and has a comfortable two inches thickness of loft. It’s pretty warm and plenty comfortable. If you’re looking for a three-season comfortable sleeping pad, I suggest you take one of these for a test drive. I can readily recommend the EvoLite sleeping pad for those who need comfort and 3-season warmth, lightweight, and compactness from a pad. I would recommend the Evolite to backpackers who primarily sleep on the ground. This pad is designed for and best… Full review
