Multimat Trekker 25

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Faulty valve and zero customer service. I have owned a Thermarest 3/4 length self inflating sleeping mat since 1991—so that's 25 years. It is still every bit as good as the day I bought it. I bought a Multimat 3/4 length for my wife which we have owned for around 5 years. On our most recent trip it developed a leak where the valve is inserted into the mat. This was terminal and not repairable with the kit provided. Clearly, there is a design fault with the valve. Below is the response to the email… Full review

NEMO Cosmo Insulated 25L

rated 3.5 of 5 stars I use this with my -25 degree sleeping bag. Pumping this pad up takes a few minutes and I stay warm pumping it up. The valves where you pump get stuck on the inside of the pad. I have to pull the pad apart so air can move through the chambers. While in a winter tent it kept the ground cold away from me. The temps have been around 0 degrees on my camping nights. Full review

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Dream

rated 5 of 5 stars I have owned this pad for three years and probably slept on it 60-70 nights — I love it. It's very comfortable and perfect for car camping. Full review

EMS Hobo Sleeping Pad

rated 4 of 5 stars The EMS Hobo pad rolls up very small and is very lightweight. I have camped with it for 60+ nights. It is not the largest or thickest sleeping pad, but I find it very comfortable. I like the EMS Hobo pad a lot. It is long, which I like because my feet don't hang off the bottom (I am 6'). It rolls up very small. You simply roll it up or fold it in half lengthwise and then roll it so it rolls into a cylinder roughly 8" X 8" X 1". When I unpack the Hobo pad after it has been fully deflated I manually… Full review

Ensolite Sleeping Pad

rated 4 of 5 stars Never fails, always works. My trusted blue pad has served me well for decades. It has handled Arizona rocks, thorns, and pokey plants. It worked on a coral rubble campsite in the Florida Keys. Wisconsin winter camping is no problem. This is a well used and essential item for all my camping. I now add a Therm-a-Rest pad on top for extra cushioning, something not needed when I was in my 20s but greatly appreciated now. The dual pad combo provides for a wonderful night's sleep, I even bring a tiny… Full review

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Trekker

rated 3 of 5 stars Lightweight, compressible, air mattress for backpacking and backwoods camping. Therm-a-Rest builds a wide array of sleeping pads as most know. Which one to buy is often the hardest question to answer. I have been able to use this in many conditions and after 1,000 miles with the NeoAir Trekker here are some things I have found.  The new NeoAir Trekker comes with an increased R-value of 3.0 from its last model at 2.0. Using a reflective layering inside of the mattress opposed to any sort of foam… Full review

Klymit Inertia XL Recon

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great lightweight, compact sleeping pad. I have been using an older army inflatable pad that is very durable and reasonably comfortable, but is heavy and does not pack down well. I bought a pair of these Inertia XL for me and my son. I am very impressed with how small and light the pads are and how well they lay. Pumped up with the included bulb the pads don't bottom out and are pretty comfortable. Can be had for a reasonable price and have a good warranty. Full review

Vango Trek Standard

rated 4 of 5 stars Not much to say about the best selling sleeping mat from Vango. It comes only in red (I think) with its bag and compression straps. It also comes with a repair kit if you accidentally puncture it! You just unscrew the valve cap and wait for the mattress to decompress. After that you may need to give it 2-3 puffs and screw the cap back in place for a more firm feel. My advice: When done with the mattress let it decompress once more and when the inflation comes into a halt screw the cap back and store… Full review

REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad

rated 5 of 5 stars This is the best back-packable mattress pad I have used. The Stratus is aptly named. I bought this mattress for a sailing/camping event along the Maine Island Trail in a small boat. The pad has proved to be just right for camping on land as well. The outside ribs help prevent rolling off, which always happens to me on other sleeping pads I've used. This one provides a nice cradle effect and even on the boat I did not slide off. I find it easy to inflate and deflate, a welcome change compared to… Full review
