Therm-a-Rest Z-Rest

rated 4 of 5 stars The Z-Rest is a Therm-a-Rest product, but it's not an air-filled type ā€” rather it's closed cell foam. It's light, durable, and versatile. I've had this one for at least 20 years, maybe 25 and I'd buy another tomorrow (but I don't need to!). The model Z-rest I have is 520mm (2.5") wide and 1.8m (6') long. There are other sizes. It folds in a concertina-style and its egg-carton pattern (do you have egg cartons in the US?) enables each segment to nest. That same pattern means its effective thickness… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's Trail Lite

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Simple, lightweight, and comfortable. Great for a weekend car camping adventure or a backpacking trip in the backwoods. I've been using the Thermarest Trail Lite regularly for over a year. I originally purchased it because it could be rolled up quite small for backpacking and was a bit thicker, when inflated, than the simple closed cell foam pad I'd used previously. Since you can adjust the thickness by adding extra air it tends to be more comfortable than the foam ones. But when deflated and stored… Full review

REI Standard Blue Foam Pad

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Better than the ground. Competitive weight. Does add some insulation. Should go great combined with another pad for winter use. So, to start off with, I do have, and have used the basic Thermarest self inflating pad in 3/4 length. But not being particularly plump, I tend to bottom-out at the pressure points (hips, elbows, etc.) with any type of air mattress. I'm also constantly afraid of getting a hole in it, though it hasn't happened yet. So for my last backpacking trip I had ordered the Thermarest… Full review

Exped SynMat UL 7

rated 4 of 5 stars It was lightweight and quiet and because of outside sections being bigger than inside, created a nice hollow in the center where you would less likely slide off. IĀ  wanted a lightweight pad to replace my old Thermarest and I researched the products and decided to buy the SynMat for a couple of reasons. One, it wasn't suppose to be as noisy as the others, and it wasn't, and the shape creates a natural depression in the middle so you didn't have as much a tendency to slide off, which really worked. Therm-a-Rest Men's ProLite Plus

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a very light compact comfortable mattress. Rolls into a small package for easy storage in pack. Great for long haul backpacking trip or just the weekender. This is a great product either for the weekender or long haul 4- to 8-day trip in the backcountry mattress. The Pro-Lite holds up to the standards one would expect from Therm-a-Rest. The mattress once unrolled and valve opened begins to inflate. It is slow to inflate and have had to add couple of "puffs" to fully inflate. This is not… Full review

REI Flash Insulated Air Pad

rated 4 of 5 stars After 18 months of use over four seasons, I've had NO problems and tons of great sleep. It is replacing my ExPed SynMat 7 (which I love). Packs much smaller and the same comfort (in three seasons). Spring through fall, this alone has been all I've needed. Night time comfort is wonderful, even for this old, 55-year-old body. In winter, the insulation isn't enough alone (isn't supposed to be) so I just put a closed foam pad under to keep me insulated from the frozen ground. Inflating and deflating… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Women's NeoAir XLite

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Light, easy, comfortable, but SLIPPERY! I was impressed with the tiny size and light weight. But it took many more than the "20 breaths" to inflate! Quick and easy deflate. Comfortable, even though it looks too thin when inflated. BUT very slippery, despite using same brand sleeping bag with the "system" of two straps meant to keep sleeping bag on the pad. I woke every morning with some part of me on the ground ā€” shoulder, hip or entire trunk of body ā€” while head was on pad! Very expensive system… Full review

Exped DownMat 7

rated 5 of 5 stars It is the most comfortable and durable bed to lay on and own. I don't travel without it. Never had a bed last me for so long and still work like the first day I bought it. Full review

Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest

rated 5 of 5 stars A light, relatively inexpensive pad that will prevent sub zero from getting to you from underneath. I bought mine in 1997 and is still going strong. When I am not using it camping, I use it for a yoga mat. I certainly got my money out of it. Mine does not say Therma-Rest, though, it says Cascade Designs. I'm not sure of the merchandizing, but it is the same exact pad. I have a black and grey one, not the newer green and grey. At one point, I cut 16" off the end, to make it shorter, making it 56",… Full review
