NEMO Astro Air

rated 5 of 5 stars I don't know if I should brag or cry...this is my first real air pad. I've used cheaper ones like from Walmart and yoga pads. The older I get the thicker my pads keep getting. This was a Christmas gift. I was unsure of it but after a week camping, I love it. It's light and comfy. And a nice price after looking around. I've use cheap pads all my life. But this pad blew my mind. Uses very little pack room. And for the first time my back side was never cold, not one bit!!! A big plus for me. I used… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's Trail Lite

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Light, but not very sturdy. I have had my Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite for a few years now, purchased in 2009, but it has never really done it for me: Although it is light I found it small for my frame size (6'-1"/ 1.85 m tall). I just went for convenience since the plan was to have it for backpacking and bought the biggest size available at the time. It has always been barely comfortable to sleep in and I always slide off from it. Every time I found myself sleeping on the tent bottom. Not very sturdy. Full review

Dutchware Folding Sit Pad

rated 5 of 5 stars The Dutchware Gear folding sit pad is ultra lightweight, durable, multi-use, and cheap. It provides a lot of basic functionality -- at this weight, size, and price there’s no reason to not carry one. This is a review of the Dutchware Gear folding sit pad. Dutchware sells mostly accessories for camping but also offers a limited selection of shelters, tarps, quilts, and hammocks. I am not affiliated with Dutchware Gear in any way. For the sit pad I paid the current price of $6.75+shipping. Product… Full review

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir

rated 5 of 5 stars Light, compact, and very comfortable. I have used my NeoAir for several years, having purchased it when they first came out. They are noisy when outside a bag but are the most comfortable pad I have packed. It is about 1/4 the size of my old Thermarest standard.  I now put it in my Big Agnes down bag pouch where it makes no noise and works beautifully. Blowing it up is not too much work. I leave it inside my Big Agnes, deflating it and stuffing it in the bag sack where it is easily re-filled. Full review

Big Agnes Q-Core SL

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a very good pad. Comfortable and fairly warm too. Started using it at basecamp tenting for over a month in France and Turkey. Held up well for at least a year or so before developing flex fatigue holes between the inflation piece and the fabric.  (I am rough on gear, leaving it in my car in summer heat etc.) This probably had some to do with the heat as well loosening the fabric at the spot. The supplied patch glue had long since melted in the heat so I just used some JB Weld that was handy… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's ProLite 4

rated 4 of 5 stars Excellent and durable pad. Slightly heavy by today's standard, but cheaper than the ultralight bunch. I've used a Prolite 4 (that's today's ProLite Plus) from 2003 to 2016. I have the 3/4 version. The most important thing about it is that it works, it really self-inflates, and it's durable. Some notes and details: a. Durability:  I always use a ground sheet or inside a tent; I never had a puncture. I had two mats; one started leaking from the valve after 10 years (needed valve replacement), the… Full review

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Venture WV

rated 5 of 5 stars A mattress that will give you a good night's rest, great addition to your gear if you're looking for an additional comfort after a long hike. It's cheap and very comfortable. Really a bang for a buck. This product offers protection from the ground e.g. damp, cold, uneven surface. Very easy to set up—you just unroll it, blow for about 10 full breaths and you have an air mattress in the wilderness. There are youtube tutorial out there where you can make a inflator if blowing it is too hard for you. Full review

Mammut Alpine Mat UL

rated 4 of 5 stars Very lightweight, relatively warm. A high quality closed cell mat.  R value only 1.2 , but relative to weight that is very high (weighs 135 grams). Packs quite small for a closed cell, and quite versatile, can be used as a seat or as a doubled up short mat (90 cm) with R value 2.4! Update 11/22/2016: After using it a few times I can see it is not very durable. Used it for a bit of yoga, lying down, all in the house. If it touches any hard edge like something on jeans or carpet it will leave a permanent… Full review

NEMO Cosmo Insulated 20R

rated 4 of 5 stars The Cosmo 20r is a great balance of comfort and weight. The integrated foot pump is probably where the weight and size come from, but it is so handy and fast. I have used other integrated pump pads and this one is the fastest, lightest, and the most comfortable I've used. Ease of Use: Everything work as it should and is one of the more efficient integrated pump pads I've seen. Features: Has a small valve on the "top" corner designed to release pressure while lying on the pad to reach optimal comfort. Full review
