What a campfire coffee pot should be: Usable over a fire. Also works great on a stove, even at home. Ideal for those who like plain old perked coffee.

Pros

  • Bail handle
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • No measurement marks
  • Maybe too light for lifelong use
  • Secondary handle kind of useless

I have owned this coffee pot for several months, and used it several dozen times. It has held up fine, though it might not last forever.

It works perfectly, over a fire, or on the stove at home. It perks. You can see it's perking; it doesn't boil over.

The main bail handle is very nice. It is nice to have one (and so many pots don't anymore), as the pot can be hung over a fire. It is also stiff enough that the handle will stand up (and not get so hot) when the pot is on a stove or grate.

The secondary handle at the base of the pot is less useful. It will get hot, no matter what. So while it takes two hands to pour, there's not a big difference between lifting the handle with a fork or wrapped hand, and just tilting the pot itself with the same fork or potholder.

As a disclaimer, I will say that I prefer percolator coffee to the drip (Mr. Coffee) variety even at home. I know that this is a minority opinion. Others might well prefer a coffee cone or French Press.

*This is the 9-cup version of the pot.
