PackTowl UltraLite

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Amazing absorbent, quick drying, lightweight, and basically exceeded my expectation on every level. It is a permanent part of my backcountry gear. This pack towel lives up to its promised performance. Incredibly absorbent and wrings out almost dry. It air dries very quickly. When dry it is very lightweight. I found this towel to be great for drying off anything wet or to mop up spills. It is also soft to the skin.  The convenient snap loop is great to hang it off of your pack to dry while hiking. MSR WhisperLite Internationale

rated 5 of 5 stars Love my MSR Whisperlite. Have been using it since 2003 in Iraq. Burn any type of fuel with the Internationale. I bought mine for the 2003 Operation Iraqi Freedom so I could cook my own food if/when that became an option. Trust me, MRE's get old fast! I got the Internationale with a 30oz bottle. Since then, I have bought a second one used with a second pump and 11oz bottle. I have only replaced the O-rings once in 12 years after being in storage for 4 years before I got back into camping and backpacking. … Full review

MSR Alpine Bowl

rated 4.5 of 5 stars It is a stainless steel boil. Dang near bullet proof. I have had mine for two years now and I bought it used on eBay. It is a great, strong bowl. I even use it at home.  Full review

Optimus Sparky

rated 5 of 5 stars This little igniter works great to light my alcohol stoves. The recommended approach is to dip it in the alcohol, lift about six inches while holding it down, and click. You then have a match in which to light your alcohol stove. (Tilting the igniter upright after dipping it in the alcohol is not recommended and could lead to injury.) This igniter works even when wet. You can drop it in the river and then pick it up, shake it off, and then light your stove. It makes carrying lighters, waterproof… Full review

Trangia Spirit Stove

rated 4 of 5 stars Very nice stove. Gets water to a rolling boil in an efficient manner, and fits inside my Solo Stove. Highly recommended. Setup: The stove is extremely easy to set up. Pour in alcohol, set simmer ring to desired level.  Ignition: I use a ferro rod with the back side of my knife, it works really well. I'm sure a lighter would work too, just be careful not to toast your hand when you light it. Flame Control & Cooking: The burner is adjustable, but I haven't really used it much, because all of… Full review

Ozark Trail Single Burner Propane Camp Stove

rated 4 of 5 stars This burner is so simple to use. You adjust the gas flow and light the burner. No pumping or priming. The plastic base that comes with it makes the base very stable. I would recommend this burner as a starter burner for new campers. It's lightweight, but a little bulky. The Ozark Trail single burner stove is handy to have in camp. It's easy to pack on a boat trip. However a bit overkill for an overnight backpacking trip. I liked the 10,000 BTU burner and the ease of propane. I was also able to reduce… Full review

Campingaz Turbo 270

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Good stove. Cartridge unavailable. Great stove, but the cartridges for it are no longer available in the US and not sure about Europe. Full review

MSR PocketRocket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars If you're still using your WhisperLite for three-season solo or two-person backpacking, you need to upgrade to a good canister stove. The MSR PocketRocket is the gold standard and for good reason. It is lightweight, folds up and fits into a compact plastic case, is simple to use, and puts out all the heat you need for heating water for meals. To get the most out of a canister stove, you need to understand what it's good for and what it's not so good for. If you don't expect it to melt snow for you… Full review

Jetboil Flash Cooking System

rated 4 of 5 stars I love the weight and speed of this cook system. Every time I go backpacking with friends I end up boiling water for everyone. I can boil a cup of water by the time they are finally set up and ready to start cooking. Setup is a breeze. I love the self igniter which works every time. I wish you had better control on the flame. It tends to scorch if simmered too long. One can of fuel will allow me approximately 10 meals. This system packs up inside itself and is very light weight. I haven't had any… Full review
