The M-2 is one of the smallest baseplate (protractor) compasses that has fully adjustable declination. That alone makes it a valuable tool. No longer do you have to remember adding or subtracting declination each time you take a map bearing and convert it to a field bearing. Unlike the larger compasses, it still fits easily in a shirt pocket. Other nice features include a 1:24K map scale for USGS topos and luminous points for use at night or darkened forest. Reasonably priced as well.
