"I had great luck with tecnica alpine ski boots and decided to try hiking boots. Excellent choice. These boots required no break-in time. They are completely waterproof (simpatex is similar to gortex) and are very comfortable. I hiked all over the White Mts last fall into early winter and they handled any kind of terrain easily."
