Hyvent Alpha: HyVent is a superior technology utilising a polyurethane (PU) coating that consists of a tri-component mutli-layer formula for waterproof protection, moisture permeability and durability. HyVent Alpha fabric is used in the Summit Series collection. This burly, waterproof fabric utilises a micro porous, hydrophobic lamination technology that retains its capabilities in even the most severe conditions. HyVent DT uses the same principle as HyVent coating but the thickness of the third layer is reduced making this waterproof fabric more lightweight, packable, and more breathable than other unlined treated fabrics. HyVent DT is created by applying a polyurethane (PU) coating which acts as a dry-touch, half-layer coating that adds durability and comfort by physically separating the HyVent DT PU coating from the skin, thereby eliminating the need for a liner. HyVent 3-Layer fabric utilises a three-layer construction to stay simultaneously breathable and waterproof in extreme conditions. Pertex: Pertex fabric technology is based on a natural phenomenon called capillary action technology. Capillary action is the ability for water to be drawn up into narrow spaces. Quantum uses the optimum fibre size for this to happen, and so create the thousands of capillaries within the fabric. Moisture moves along the capillaries between the fibres and spreads over a large surface area where it evaporates. Available Color(s): Bomber Blue, Dark Sage Green

Made of magic and woven with fibers plucked from Zeus' beard, The North Face Men's Alloy Jacket is made to handle mythical backcountry conditions, from pixie-dust-light powder to wrath-of-the-gods ridgetop storms. TNF Apex Universal, which composes the body of the jacket, is a highly breathable and water-resistant softshell fabric that will protect you from the elements without restricting movement or acting like a wearable sauna. The hood and shoulders are completely waterproof, thanks to a HyVent Alpha membrane that locks out water while allowing perspiration to escape before it condenses into liquid. TNF also put reinforced grip zones on the shoulders to keep a hold on pack straps and prevent ski edges from slicing you up on the bootpack. As part of their mission to outfit the Alloy with as many breathable, durable, weather-resistant fabrics as possible, TNF constructed the underarms out of Pertex Equilibrium, which has excellent wicking properties while retaining a low weight and exceptional flexibility. To top it all off there's a DWR water-resistant coating, because when it comes to water-resistance, less isn't actually more. The hood is fully adjustable, helmet-compatible, and sports a laminated wire brim for extra protection, while hidden hem-cinch cord is located by the center zipper.
