The North Face Exocet

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Exocet has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best daypacks for 2024.

I have used this pack for the past year for day hikes mainly and it has served fine. However, the extension skirt has ripped and parts of the pack have frayed. For future consideration I would like a bigger pack as well as a more durable pack.

I have used this pack as a ski pack also and it served very well in that purpose. Like many of the low end TNF products, it is mass produced and as a consequence suffers in quality. I am now looking at the Dana Designs Bomb pack. Any suggestios about this pack would be helpful. Thank you. :)

This is the best all around pack in my gear room. I absolutely am in love. I have a collection of packs in all shapes and sizes, but this one goes with me everywhere! Summer minimalist weekend outings, full day trips to the crag with a full rack, or all day vacation shopping trips. Perfect size when you don't need a large capacity pack. I've even climbed a two pitch 5.10 with this thing riding comfortably on my back. TNF knows what they're doing... again.

I have found this pack to be a durable and versatile pack. It has stood up to the abuse of everyday book carrying as well as all of my day hikes in the past three years. I have been very happy with the pack. The compression straps compress loads well and hold skis well. I can fit enough gear in it for winter hikes without overstuffing it. I only have good things to say about it.

This pack is okay. When it is fully loaded it fits well, but when it is not, the pack kind of droops back. It is a kind of awkward pack, but it works well for packing up my sport climbing gear and hiking around for the day.
