The North Face Harway Jacket

rated 0.5 of 5 stars
photo: The North Face Harway Jacket synthetic insulated jacket

Terrible synthetic for the price. Not breathable at all. You will be sweating buckets from walking down the block. For $100 you could do waaay better. It is 100g Heatseeker insulation warm down to 30 degrees. I use it under a Mountain Hardwear hardshell and even under a more dressy wool jacket to add warmth.

Pros

  • Plenty warm
  • Layers well

Cons

  • Not breathable at all
  • Boxy fit
  • Expensive for what you get

The North Face men's Harway Jacket is a terrible jacket. The jacket has a casual fit which is a little boxy but not terribly boxy. I am 5'6" and 160 lbs and a medium fits me fine. The jacket does not have adjustable cuffs or a cinch cord at the bottom of the jacket.

The jacket is not breathable in the slightest. It has 100g Heatseeker insulation which is outdated but is warm, good for everyday use down to about 30 degrees. There are no vents to dump excess heat.

The jacket has a DWR waterproof coating that has held up pretty well after several months of use. (Edit - doesn't keep any water out after one month of use.) It can shed light rain, but in anything more than a light rain you will want to slip a shell over this jacket.

The jacket has two simple hand pockets that have soft fleece linings as a nice bonus.

The jacket does not stuff into a pocket, but it does compress down pretty small.

Overall, you could do much better for the price. Look elsewhere.
