I've been camping in this little tent for 2 seasons now. I have an older version that has two sleeves as opposed to all clips for the poles to feed through, but the design is identical otherwise. I would say that it makes a cozy two-person tent. It would be pretty tight with three people.

I love my tent! Last summer was one of the wettest I've been through in the Eastern Ontario/Quebec area. I was camping during one of these week-long rain storms and my fiance and I were the only ones dry in the campground. One set of campers actually packed up and left during the night as their tent was just completely flooded. Heavy rain, strong winds - our little tent stood up to it all.

I really don't understand the rain problems others have been having...I can only imagine that they did not place the fly on the tent as the tent itself is a thin mesh, it's the fly tent that provides the waterproof exterior. The fly goes right to the ground - excellent for keeping us dry!

As always, do your own research - heading out to a retailer that will allow you to set up the tent at the store before purchase is always a good idea. Then you can get a better idea of fly tent coverage, taped seams, etc...

This tent is no longer being carried by North Face - but I'm extremely happy with the quality of the product I have and I'll be buying North Face again.

I have used the Moraine 33 for a while now, and have experienced some difficult conditions to put it to the test. With cold temps and steady rain, no leaks whatsoever; but it is a well-ventilated tent, so duh...expect the outside temps to translate inside the tent.

I just returned from a 5-day fishing/camping trip and had some pretty heavy rain on a couple of days, no leaks or issues at all. I use the North Face footprint and gearloft for the tent and it is perfect for one or two persons. Like all tents, be realistic about capacity based on area as described in the specifications...you are the consumer and must consider the facts and apply them to your needs. The tent is great for having a view to the sky when rain is not an issue and the fly not pitched, and you can pitch just the fly and footprint for a super-light setup when bugs are not an issue.

Some people seem to have an axe to grind with North Face, but make sure your opinions are based on real experience with the products in the correct applications.

My good buddy has a North Face Peregrine that he has used for the past 5 to seven years. I love that tent but they don't make it anymore. I got to choose a gift from a contest I won and they had the Moraine 33. I could not be happier. The tent is great for my trips to the Boundary Waters North Woods. Very easy to set up and pack.

I did 8 days of heavy portages and rain almost every day. The lakes gained 1 1/2 feet of water in 4 days. This tent kept me dry every night. It rained heavy for 13 hours straight and not a drop from outside. We did have a little condensation from us being trapped inside for so long. That is normal. Maybe the guys from the other reviews didn't seam seal there tents!

Great tent, would recommend to anyone needing a good solid tent. My be a little tight for three big guys but for me and my buddy it was just fine. We had plenty of room for us and what gear we didn't want under the vestibule.

I bought this tent last winter in anticipation of a 5 day bike ride in June. I was concerned about the negative feedback regarding water leakage. The sales person who is an experienced camper explained how to properly pitch a tent to avoid "wicking and leakage."

The second night of my trip I was in one of the worse storms of my life that included high winds, down pouring rain and hail. I rode out the storm in my tent and thought that I was inside a drum from the sound of the rain beating down. After the storm passed, my tent was still warm, dry and cozy. Most everyone else was bailing out water.

This tent is easy to use, but you have to pitch it correctly to stay dry even when the weather looks clear. Once the rain sets in it is too late. That holds true for all tents.

I highly recommend the Moraine 33 for its roominess, weight and easy assembly. Recommend the footprint too.

I am not sure what the other reviewers were talking about, but I love this tent. It's roomy, sturdy, and dry. I have been through multiple rainstorms, and always stayed dry. Sure a little water trickles in when you open the door, but you would get that with any tent.

For the size, money, and quality, you can't beat it. I will most likely be buying another one for my daughters, as my 19-year-old Walrus finally failed...

Update: November 27, 2007

Very good tent for the price. Alum poles, full sleeves (no clips), full fly, dual entrances, and a decent size vestibule. Kept us and gear dry during sporadic rainstorms on North Manitou in Lake Michigan. A bit heavy, but compensated in sturdiness and weather worthiness. I little water dripped in around the door, but that could be due to my stupidity.

Highly recommend this tent for fall, spring and summer.

I've had my Moraine 33 for five years now and it is still like brand new. I have three small boys and we go camping in the northern Utah mountains all the time.

I have not had any leakage issues at any time during our campouts. It is easy to set up, as my 9-year-old son now sets the tent up by himself and does it in under 10 minutes.

The tent itself has great space for a 3-man, is light enough to take backpacking on extended treks. I am going to the Wind River range in 2 weeks and am confident I will stay dry and protected from the elements.

Sad that NF no longer makes this tent.

Price Paid: 220 USD

I find it surprising the few negative comments I've read on here about this product. I think, dare I say it, the negative feedback is coming from individuals who were unable to understand the concept of a rain fly, and problem thought they were finished setting up the tent once the poles and dome was erected. Of course it's going to rain inside it's made of mos. netting duh!

I lived in this tent for four months straight, it was my first North Face product, and I have bought many other items since. a.k.a. for those of you who don't know how to erect a tent... their products are incredible.

Price Paid: $200

Frank, you need to learn how to set up a tent. I have used this tent 20+ times in all kinds of weather in damp Ky. conditions and it performs flawlessly even in 10 degree weather.

I would like to correct something you see in almost all reviews. Any tent zipped up with two people inside will have a lot of condensation. Always.

This is a great tent but as with any tent it has to be staked out tightly and properly. I get tired of reviewers bashing great gear because of their own inexperience.

Great tent high quality from someone with 40 years backpacking experience.

I have no idea what the negative feedback on this tent is all about, cause i just bought this tent and set it up in my basement and it was the easiest tent I have ever assembled. Took me 5-6 minutes to simply click the poles into place and hook into the bottom.

Haven't been outside yet. I just wanted to respond to the people who say this tent is hard to set up, because anyone with any camping experience will have this tent up in no time! Great Buy!!

This tent is a worthless piece of crap! I spent over 200 dollars for garbage. The first weekend my sister and I went out camping it rained. We felt like someone was pissing on us all night long.

I am very disappointed with the quality that went into the tent. Do not buy this garbage. I hate North Face product and despise the company and its employees.

This tent looks nice when you set it up. It's a piece of junk though. Unless you want a $300 water filter don't buy the Moraine 33. I went camping and I was drenched the first rain. Water came through every part of the tent. I've never seen anything like it in my life. DO NOT BUY!

Price Paid: $300

We have serious problem with tent. Very much rain come inside. Zipper getting stuck. My cousin buy the same model from merchant and same problem. Rain come in all the time.

This tent has been great for me and my friends. It has kept us dry for 2 straight days of rain, even when we pile 4 people into it to play cards.
