The North Face Thermoball Traction Mule II

rated 4 of 5 stars
photo: The North Face Thermoball Traction Mule II bootie

A very good base camp shoe. About a lb per pair.

Pros

  • Sturdy
  • Warm
  • Great traction for a "slipper"

Cons

  • Sole could be thinner, shoe lighter

An excellent camp shoe. Runs small. I wear an 11, and if I want to wear socks with the Thermoball it has to be a low cut running sock; no chance of a wool hiking sock fitting in it.

On the plus side, you will not worry walking off you site to use relieve yourself with the Thermoball on. The sole is a few centimeters higher than the footbed, so you foot does not slide around in it.
