Black Diamond Unisex Trail Pro Shock

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Four years old and still going strong. I have had a pair of these poles for four years now and as I get farther away from 50 I use them more and more. They break down to the length of my pack. The shock system looks look it will never wear out unlike the old Leki system. They lock up tight and you just need to tighten a small screw if not, unlike the old twist system on the old Leki. I have also had to 2-hand these poles when sliding down an avi slope still filled with snow. The straps are wide… Full review

Cascade Mountain Tech Quick Lock Carbon Fiber Cork Grip Trekking Poles

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Cascade trekking poles are a very good design and construction. They appear to be very durable long-term. They are certainly a bargain for the price, delivering good performance, as good or better than many better-known, higher priced poles. Background: The conventional wisdom is that poles provide better balance, promote rhythm when hiking, and “4 points on the ground”, especially on steep, rough trails, when carrying heavy loads. I have been using poles since I was very young, first as… Full review

Black Diamond Ultra Mountain Carbon

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Excellent poles. Lightweight and strong. An excellent pair of trekking poles. Very lightweight. Easy to deploy. Without question the Ultra Mountain Carbon Z Poles' greatest attribute is not having one section of a pole collapse into another section when a lot of weight is applied on a downhill. The only problem is if they need to be broken down to scale an uphill section of trail by hand; the tips of the poles will probably not stay locked in the cutout of the basket. I broke them down and hung… Full review

Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z

rated 5 of 5 stars Indispensable, durable, lightweight trail tool for hiking, trail running, and backpacking. Possibly my favorite piece of gear. Hard pressed to find a situation where I do not bring along these poles since they are so light and portable.  Fit is determined by height of user. Come in a couple of different sizes, I use the 120mm model which is the size recommended for my height. Grips and straps are very comfortable, I tend to use with gloves and have noticed absolutely no chaffing or pain. Only problem… Full review

REI Unisex Traverse Shocklight

rated 4 of 5 stars I took a pair of REI Traverse Shocklight Trekking Poles end-to-end on the Long Trail in Vermont. One pole went the distance! I have backpacked extensively in Canada and the western United States and never used trekking poles. My wife insisted that I take them on the Long Trail. She was right!! The Long Trail is a steady diet of roots and rocks, up and down. Much of the Long Trail was blazed without the benefit of switchbacks. The trail very often is a stream bed. When you are lucky, the stream bed… Full review

Outdoor Products Trekking Pole Set

rated 2 of 5 stars I bought this set to see if I prefer them over my staff. I liked the price. The shock absorbers are a plus. This is a good beginner set. I have never used trekking poles before. I bought this set at WalMart to see if I would like them. They seemed to work OK. I tried this set out at a prvate college trail system. The handles are hard plastic and after two miles rubbed a hot spot on my hands. They worked good at stream crossing and poorly on slick rock. A good friend is on his third set of this brand. Black Diamond Trail Back

rated 5 of 5 stars Easy to adjust height and lock in place. I have used these poles over the past six years on both hikes and on backpacking trips. They have gotten me through dirt trails and slickrock in Utah, lava in Hawaii, snow fields in Wyoming, and granite in N.H. The antishock is subtle but does the job. I am 5'5" and my husband is 6'2" and the poles can adjust enough to comfortably work for both of us.     I was attracted to these poles because of their locking design. I had a real cheap pair of poles before… Full review

Leki Micro Vario Carbon Max

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Micro Vario Carbon Max is a trekking and backcountry ski pole made for vertically advantaged (over 6' or 180 cm) people. Light (but not ultralight), stiff, and strong. Great for hiking and backpacking and a good choice for ski mountaineering, with a good length range and versatile grip options for movement on easy ground and up, down, and across steeper and rougher slopes. Trailspace sent these poles to me because they are specifically made for vertically advantaged (tall) people; at over 190… Full review

Tubbs 3-Part Snowshoe Poles

rated 5 of 5 stars I find the use of poles essential to my snowshoeing outings, providing added stability and security on uneven or tricky terrain. These poles are durable, solid, strong, and easily adjustable. I may need to vary the length, depending upon the conditions I encounter, and these hold their adjusted length very well. Both my husband and I received these poles as part of the Tubbs Ambassador program, but that is not the reason I certainly would recommend them to others. They are a good, solid, reasonably… Full review
