Cascade Mountain Tech Quick Lock Carbon Fiber Cork Grip Trekking Poles

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Carbon fiber hiking poles with top of the line features And from Costco for $29.95. The list of pros above says it all. These poles offer great features for a very low price. I did cut off the foam "extended grips" below the cork handles because they added unused weight, at least for me.  I like that the poles came with both small on-piste snow baskets and large backcountry baskets as well as a "foot-shaped" tip cap for muddy conditions.  The pole straps, aside from being fast adjustable, have… Full review

Black Diamond Trail Back

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Fairly light poles with reasonably ergonomical grips, and extend to a fairly good length. Not the most rigid however. I've used a number of different poles including carbon and shock types. I got these as they are light and most importantly long as I'm 6'1". I like the grips and especially the straps, which are comfortable and easily adjusted. They have some flex, which isn't a bad thing so long as they don't bend, and it gives them some shock absorption. The baskets are nice quality and stay on,… Full review

Swiss Gear Hiking Pole

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great hiking pole. I bought a Swiss Army hiking pole at a Target store about 10 years ago. I have used it on a lot of hikes, when wading rivers fishing, and as a cane when I had some health problems. It has never let me down. It is so light and comfortable especially with the shock absorbing tip, and the price is great too. Full review

Leki Women's Micro Vario Ti Cor-Tec

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Looking for a go-to trekking pole that does it all? This pole might just fit that bill. From the ergonomic cork handle to it breaking down to 15" stow length, this aluminum tough cookie is a pole to consider deeply. Leki included some key features that make this a year-round pole. I am a hard sell for hiking poles. As my knees got a little stiffer, I decided to start using poles. About 20 years ago I found a pair of Allsop ski poles that I cut down and fine-tuned to me. I adore the grips. (The poles… Full review

STABIL Stride

rated 4 of 5 stars These lightweight telescoping poles are highly adaptable and adjustable. They performed well and were very easy to transport in carry-on or checked luggage. The power lock mechanism afforded very convenient and secure length adjustment. Great for international or local hiking. These STABIL Stride four-season hiking poles were provided for trial and trial I did—Mammoth Mountain for summer hiking and forested terrain, Castle Peak at Donner Summit for rocks and steep terrain, and Mont Blanc for… Full review

Black Diamond Men's Trail

rated 5 of 5 stars These poles are as tough as it gets. I hiked around 1,000 miles in the last six months and I’m glad I had these poles to support me. These are so durable I never even had to tighten the screws of the flicklocks! I hiked while carrying an average weight of 36 pounds (16 kilos) and in all types of terrain, but the majority of it were granite and other igneous rocks. Durability Brilliant, superb, outstanding! There were numerous times I had put all of my weight on these poles and they never bent… Full review

Mountainsmith Pinnacle Trekking Poles

rated 4 of 5 stars For the money you can't go wrong! These poles were a last minute buy. I had no intention of even using poles until a friend of mine asked if I had bought poles for my first backpacking trip. Not knowing if I really wanted or needed them I picked them up really cheap and boy am I glad I did. These poles are great! Very tough. I really abused them.I will eventually upgrade to something with a cork grip but for the time being these poles will be in my hand for many more years. Full review

Outdoor Products Apex Trekking Pole Set

rated 4.5 of 5 stars These are good-looking, sturdy trekking poles. They are well made and the locking levers make a satisfying click to let you know they are secure. These are a good buy for the money. I recently took these out on the Shaupeneak Ridge in New York to hike the white blazes and they held up and really gave me great support on both the up and downs. We hiked on dry, powdery dirt, rocky uphills, branchy, grassy flats and damp rocks near a waterfall.  The locking levers are easy to adjust and there was… Full review

Leki Instructor Lite SL2

rated 4 of 5 stars Leki Instructor Lite walking poles combine stability with a low swing weight. Unique removable grip straps. Length adjustment via cam locks. Nordic walking, as it is called in Europe, or hiking with poles, as we Americans know it, is an offshoot of dry land training for Nordic skiing. The Leki Instructor Lite walking pole has been designed specifically for walking or hiking.  Constructing the upper shaft of aluminum and the lower shaft of carbon fiber has allowed Leki to produce a strong pole with… Full review
