Tubbs 2-Part Adjustable Snowshoe Poles

rated 4 of 5 stars The Tubbs 2-Part Adjustable Snowshoe Poles are lightweight, sturdy accessories for snowshoeing, helping with balance and increasing the aerobic workout. They're valuable for probing uncertain terrain as well. I received the Tubbs 2-Part Adjustable Snowshoe Poles as a free gift with my purchase of Louis Garneau Blizzard II snowshoes from Campsaver. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much after a few experiences with poles from other snowshoe manufacturers, but I was pleasantly surprised by these. … Full review

Leki Corklite

rated 4 of 5 stars The Leki Corklite trekking poles are light, strong, and especially well suited for wet weather trekking as the grips don't absorb water and the wrist straps dry quickly. The cork grips are actually a composite (80% ground cork) so don't expect a traditional cork feel. I have medium sized hands and thought these grips were a bit on the small side so be sure to put your hands on these before you buy them. Black Diamond Trail Ergo Cork

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Really, really like 'em! Never used trekking poles before I planned my first backpacking trip with some friends. These guys are "pros" and my go-to resource for questions and learning about backpacking/outdoors, etc. Been on countless camping trips with my sons through Cub and Boy Scouts, but hadn't ventured into the backpacking realm until recently.   Did a training run with full pack, gear, etc.  but with no trekking poles. One of my buddies lent me his trekking poles and immediately I was hooked. Full review

Mountainsmith Carbonlite Pro

rated 5 of 5 stars Sturdy trekking poles with lockout-able shock absorbers and great cork grips. What's not to like? Mountain goats don't tackle mountains on two legs; why should you? Best For: People who like good trekking poles. Design The Mountainsmith Carbonlites Pros are three-piece, telescoping poles built for rigorous use. The diameter of the sections is greater than many of the more lightweight options, and this allows a higher user weight limit. The sections can be completely disassembled for cleaning and… Full review

Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork

rated 5 of 5 stars Saved my knees... saved my life. Won't leave home without them. I have been a fan of hiking poles for a long time. Because I have horrible arch support, my sense of balance is pretty poor, and having those extra supports make a real difference. A few years ago, as I got ready for my thru-hike of the High Sierra Trail, I decided to upgrade from my old banged up Leki poles, and sprung for these. I chose the cork grips just for personal preference. I find them more comfortable on a long day than rubber. Full review

Leki Micro Tour Stick Vario

rated 4 of 5 stars The Leki Micro Tour Stick is a very light and durable collapsible trekking pole, equipped with well padded wrist straps, simple extension, and very secure lever-lock adjustment. These trekking poles are ideal for hikers and backpackers who value a small packed size and low weight in a convenient and reliable product. While lighter poles are available, they lack many of the comfort, strength, and convenience features of the Leki Micro Tour Stick Vario. Included items: poles, pole baskets, pamphlet,… Full review

Black Diamond Distance Z

rated 4 of 5 stars A simple, lightweight set of folding aluminum trekking poles great for dayhiking, backpacking, and trail running. Highly recommended! I've been a fan of trekking poles since I started backpacking solo as a teenager. The stability and joint protection they offer are always worth the weight. After years with the same pair of LEKI's, I decided to give Black Diamond a try in preparation for a trip to Mount Whitney. Their 2015 Distance Z's seemed to offer everything I wanted: Lightweight Simple design… Full review

StickPic Cell Phone Adapter

rated 5 of 5 stars StickPic's Cell Phone Adapter/Holder addresses the reality that fewer people are carrying a standard digital camera and are instead relying on their phone's camera to capture those memorable shots. After testing this item on the slopes of Mt. Rainier, I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. Disclosure: In my July review of the StickPic, I mentioned how I had not tested the cell phone adapter/holder that they sell. When Rod, the owner of Stickpic, saw my review, he insisted… Full review

Black Diamond Alpine FLZ

rated 4 of 5 stars Excellent poles. I use them for day hikes and they work very well. They are fairly light, built well, and fold down much smaller than telescoping poles. And they have adjustability in their length. For beginning and intermediate hikers they are great. I cannot speak for advanced hikers, because I am not one. I like these poles a lot. I'm an intermediate day hiker, going about 8 miles a hike. These poles have made the uphills much easier, and give me more stability on the downhills. They are light… Full review
