If you want a fanny pack which will hold two 1L Nalgenes in thermally insulated comfort, this is your pack. Or, just use the provided 800ml canteens. Even the main compartment has foam insulation all around, which adds structural rigidity to the pack as well as ensuring that the M&M's in your trail mix don't melt if the sun gets too hot.

For those who have experience with Ultimate Direction's discontinued Trekker, this is a somewhat urbanized version. The suspension system is similar, with a lightly padded belt and straps to snug a heavy load up against you, but given the size of the pack you can still overload it with weight before you run out of room. Instead of lash straps underneath there's a bungee on the back to carry your jacket. The external pocket has lots of organizers for doodads, but there are no pockets on the waist belt. The canteens gave me flashbacks to my Army days. I haven't tried them in my old canteen holder, but I bet they'd fit perfectly.

I rated this 5 stars because if you're looking for a fanny pack which will both carry your stuff and keep your Nalgenes (or canteens) cold for as long as possible, the Grand Cayman gets the job done in style.
