The Vasque Exodus boots fit my feet well right from the box; This impression did not change even after using these boots in up to waist deep water, mud, rocks, and deadfall I encountered during an organized police search. Needless to say my feet were wet at days end, but I feel these boots would have kept them dry if I had not gone wading.
The arches are stiff enough for comfort on rocks, while the toe area is flexible for kneeling without pinching the toes. While the Gore-tex can be a bit steamy in hot weather, it was never unbearable. These boots are very comfortable in fall/warm winter hikes. The bottom tread is well designed and had good traction on all surfaces.
The only area of constant irritation was the round shoe laces which constantly untied even when double knotted; hopefully Vasque has some new flat laces in the works that stay tied!
All in all, for a budget boot, you can do far worse than the Vasque Exodus.
