Overall, the boot is okay. The traction is very slippery on any type of wet/damp surface. Due to lack of ankle padding around the lace rivets, they make my ankles very sore after hiking on rocky or technical trails. They required almost no break in time.

The soles are rigid (which is good) and they seem to be built well. However I will be retiring these to do yard work and will be investing in some better backpacking/hiking boots.

Materials: Leather, Gore-Tex
Use: Weekend backpacking, rough trails,
Break-in Period: 5 miles

This is a very comfortable boot. However, the outsole is terrible on wet surfaces. Hydroplaning is excessive. A pair of tennis shoes have better traction! This is not a boot for hiking along a river or stream. Vasque needs to put a Vibram brand sole on this boot and then they will have a near perfect dayhiker.

Price Paid: $95

Good all-around boot, broke in almost instantly. Great deal on Gore-tex boots.

Materials: 2mm nubuck w/gore-tex membrane
Use: all round use weekend backpacking trips
Break-in Period: 4 days
Weight: 19 oz
Price Paid: $80
