User Review: Vasque Valhalla

Vasque Valhalla
Above: The current Valhalla, which may differ slightly from the version reviewed.

Rating: rated 4.5 of 5 stars
Materials: leather, mesh
Use: approaches, easy climbing
Break-in Period: none
Weight: 1 pound perhaps
Price Paid: $79

I had purchased a pair of the Vasque Pingora shoes a while ago and loved them. My only complaint was that they are full leather and a bit hot to wear in the summer. Voila! Here we now have the Vasque Valhalla which is pretty much the exact same shoe but with some nylon mesh mixed in to provide a bit of ventilation.

High points: FiveTen stealth rubber, excellent build quality, they fit my feet well (medium to narrow fit).

Low points: nothing really - I've got no complaints with these shoes. They are a bit ugly, but not too too bad...

These are excellent approach shoes that are also very well suited to 4th class and even some easy 5th class climbing. Very comfortable if not laced too tight. When climbing, you can cinch them down to the toes and not flop around much at all.
