Recent Warm Weather (above 35°F) Sleeping Bag Reviews

Liberty Mountain Peregrine Saker 35

rated 4 of 5 stars This synthetic bag is very light and compressible and has some nice features for an extremely reasonable price point First off, I have absolutely no idea why it is so hard to find reviews on this bag. This bag really is a great synthetic option and I can't understand why there is such limited information about it! There is the constant battle of synthetic vs down. Weight vs comfort. How compressible is it vs. how durable it is and so on. Well personally I think the Peregrine Saker 35 is a solution… Full review

Marmot NanoWave 45

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Economical, compact, light summer bag. Purchased this bag in a regular size as it was all they had at the local store. Reg fits to 6'0" which is an inch shorter than me, but it's still a workable length. Small girth bag (60"/152cm), don't expect lots of room to move around in. Very tight to get in and out of.  I was in about 45°F/7°C temps overnight at 6,000'. With fleece pants and a long sleeved light shirt I was very comfortable. Not much loft, so the bag packs down very small and is very light… Full review

Columbia Reactor 35 Mummy

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a great low-price synthetic bag for summer and early fall hiking. The "Omni-Heat" reflective dots do a great job of capturing body heat while the "Omni-Shield" 30D nylon shell blocks wind. A nearly full-length double zipper allows you to quickly and easily adjust the bag for optimum comfort in varying weather. I originally picked up the Columbia Reactor 35 as a backup bag when the airline lost my pack and we weren't certain we'd be able to intercept it on our way into the woods. In the end,… Full review

High Peak E-Z Pak 1000

rated 4 of 5 stars The High Peak E-Z Pak 1000 is a very good, well built, warm weather sleeping bag if you are big enough to fill it up. The construction quality, price, features, and durability are excellent, but the temperature rating is very optimistic. I recommend this sleeping bag only to the "big and tall" crowd. Words to the wise to start; First of all... ALWAYS use a sleeping bag liner! A sleeping bag is an investment—usually an expensive investment. The insulation in a sleeping bag, whether down or synthetic,… Full review

Deuter DreamLite 500

rated 5 of 5 stars I can't believe that someone hasn't already reviewed this sleeping bag! These are my GO-TO warm weather bags, and the ones I use more than any of the others! I have two (2) of these bags, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lightweight, warm weather only sleeping bag! This is the color scheme of the bags that I own. Mine don't look quite as tapered as the manufacturer's stock photo. And mine are not quite as "pretty" anymore, either! Lol. BUT, I purchased these bags in May of 2010,… Full review

Marmot Aspen 40 Ultralight

rated 5 of 5 stars Needed to cut down on weight for summer backpacking and this was the answer. Very light, packs down to the size of a grapefruit, and really does the job. I realize that this was a Dick's Sport exclusive, but it still has the Marmot name and built in quality. The stitching is excellent and keeps the down in place. I'm 5'11" and 200 pounds. The bag has plenty of room in the hips and shoulders and a squarer foot box than my 3-season bag. I like to toss and turn, so this was perfect.  The exterior… Full review

Western Mountaineering Everlite 45

rated 5 of 5 stars Great lightweight, adaptable bag. I've used it by itself in warm and muggy summer camping in Northwest Arkansas and in the Black Hills on very cool nights. Love it! I bought this bag in preparation for a week in the Black Hills, South Dakota. It's my first down bag of any weight and I couldn't wait to use it so I snuck away for a weekend in the heat and humidity of Northwest AR. For the first night I really didn't need it till 2-3 a.m. and just used it unzipped as a blanket which it was perfect… Full review

The North Face Lynx

rated 4 of 5 stars Packs down to less than a volleyball in size. Comes with compression sack. Warm even below its rating (35 degrees). Great summer bag. This is a good entry level summer bag for the hiker looking to get out into the woods w/o the 450 dollar bag, 500 dollar tent and 300 dollar backpack. Compresses to a respectable size. Allows you to go into the woods with a 50l pack given you have the right clothing and shelter. I would buy it again. Full review

Western Mountaineering HighLite

rated 4.5 of 5 stars I absolutely love my HighLite! I call it my cloud because that is what it feels like you are sleeping in :). I think the temperature rating is accurate — I sleep a little cold so I wear extra socks and clothes to bed but works well for my section hikes on the AT. It's amazingly light and packs down so small in a compression sack. When removed from the compression sack it regains all loft with a few shakes. I got the 5'6" size which works great for a petite woman. The HighLite is well made, in… Full review
