Recent Warm Weather (above 35°F) Sleeping Bag Reviews

Ozark Trail 40F Mummy Sleeping Bag

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Truly horrible. Bought this for backpacking because it is lightweight and packs small, but it is a complete waste of $45. Even with clothes, a thin liner and a fleece liner inside it, the bag could not dispel the cold. There was zero insulation properties as far as I could tell. It did not even get down to 40, more like upper 40s at the most and probably low 50s when I used it. I am going to try to return. Full review

Mountain Hardwear Lamina Z Spark 34°

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a great all-round three-season sleeping bag. It's comfort rated down to 34°f, and compresses really well. The outer shell is waterproof, and even though it is a mummy style sleeping bag there is plenty of room inside to move around and get comfortable. The Mountain Hardwear Lamina Z Spark sleeping bag is a 3-season sleeping bag that is comfort rated down to a temperature of 34°f/1°c.  I have used this on several trips with temperatures dropping as low as 3°c, and felt no chills at all… Full review

Outbound Lite Sleeping Bag -3°C

rated 2 of 5 stars Won't go back in its bag. Seems like a very good product. Used once so far. My problem with it is it won't go back in the bag it came in. I can't roll it small enough to get it in the bag it came in. I have tried several times and can't get it back in. Full review

Sea to Summit Spark SP I

rated 4 of 5 stars This is an ultra-ultralight sleeping bag with a short zip. Use it when you want to save weight and if you are prepared to sacrifice some comfort. I am 189cm (6'2"). This bag (size long) weighs 428g (15.097oz) without the stuff sack. It is the lightest sleeping bag I could find. Warmth:This is different for every person. I would say the temperature rating is OK. I am a very cold sleeper so I can use this bag even when it is around the lower limit of 8°C|46°F. I don't mind being somewhat cold, but… Full review

Western Mountaineering HighLite

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This super-lightweight, amazingly compressible, down sleeping bag rated 35 degrees is my go-to bag for just about all of my backpacking trips. While rated at 35 degrees, I'll take it even if it's supposed to get down to 30, and I'll explain that below. I would not take this bag if conditions predicted temps colder than 30 and/or lots and lots of rain. Otherwise, this is a great bag! Since it's a sleeping bag, let's talk about warmth first. I HATE being cold. I like to sleep warm, and I tend to sleep… Full review

Sierra Designs Men's Backcountry Bed 600 2-Season

rated 4 of 5 stars I'm a believer. Took the leap and bought a Sierra Design Backcountry Bed. Zipper-less, roomy, down warm weather sleeping bag. Great bag for side sleepers and those move around a lot at night like me. I find the bag works best for warmer weather nights (over 40 degrees). Great for base camps, car camping, and shorter backing trips. There are lighter bags but at an increased cost. I would buy a SD Backcountry Bed again. I haven't found a more comfortable down bag yet.  I love not having a zipper. Full review

Liberty Mountain Peregrine Saker 35

rated 4 of 5 stars This synthetic bag is very light and compressible and has some nice features for an extremely reasonable price point First off, I have absolutely no idea why it is so hard to find reviews on this bag. This bag really is a great synthetic option and I can't understand why there is such limited information about it! There is the constant battle of synthetic vs down. Weight vs comfort. How compressible is it vs. how durable it is and so on. Well personally I think the Peregrine Saker 35 is a solution… Full review

Marmot NanoWave 45

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Economical, compact, light summer bag. Purchased this bag in a regular size as it was all they had at the local store. Reg fits to 6'0" which is an inch shorter than me, but it's still a workable length. Small girth bag (60"/152cm), don't expect lots of room to move around in. Very tight to get in and out of.  I was in about 45°F/7°C temps overnight at 6,000'. With fleece pants and a long sleeved light shirt I was very comfortable. Not much loft, so the bag packs down very small and is very light… Full review

Columbia Reactor 35 Mummy

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a great low-price synthetic bag for summer and early fall hiking. The "Omni-Heat" reflective dots do a great job of capturing body heat while the "Omni-Shield" 30D nylon shell blocks wind. A nearly full-length double zipper allows you to quickly and easily adjust the bag for optimum comfort in varying weather. I originally picked up the Columbia Reactor 35 as a backup bag when the airline lost my pack and we weren't certain we'd be able to intercept it on our way into the woods. In the end,… Full review
