Recent Winter Boot Reviews

Baffin Revelstoke

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This high quality winter boot successfully unites warmth, style, and function in a lightweight package. This boot will not cause you to overheat in warmer conditions with its high breathability, but will also keep your feet warm and dry when the temperature falls far below the freezing point! After years of ill-fitting, large snow boots that provide sub-par warmth, I began the search for a superior product for both hiking/backpacking, and general poor weather use. I have never been happy using my… Full review

The North Face Men's Chilkats

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Good looking boot, and felt great on the feet, but just like all the others, mine also fell apart after just sitting in my closest with very little use. Fit: Fine Comfort: Started out great, but got even better when the boot split apart. Water resistance: Very poor as the fell apart. I'd post pictures, but you'd swear I just copied and pasted from those already shown. Mine also had very little use, and split like Chinese rubber. Good bye, North Face. Full review

Herman Survivor Tracer

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Boot are nice. The laces are junk. It is a shame that the boot laces are just garbage. The boots are pretty good work boots. I am giving the boot a 2 1/2 rating due to the laces. I should not have to buy new laces after a week of using them. I am not sure if it is the laces or the loops that are on the boot. I am sure I will find out. Full review

Ozark Trail Men's Snow Boots

rated 0.5 of 5 stars I too bought a pair of Ozark Trail boots from Walmart at season end last year. Loved the fit, and they said "waterproof." However, after only the first time wearing them in the snow, I kept leaving little black pieces of sole everywhere. Looked down, and the whole inside of the sole on one shoe was completely falling apart! Big chunks. Other shoe is just fine...I usually wear both at the same time, so same wear...haha. It seems that the quality of the rubber sole is crap, but only on one shoe??? Full review

The North Face Men's Chilkats

rated 1 of 5 stars My boots also fell apart in the same place. I've had these boots for a few years. Hardly wear them. Have always worn L.L. Bean boots, but a few years ago I ran into these and thought I'd try them. Didn't have the need to use them a lot until this winter. Got them out of my closet sitting next to my other boots. Second day wearing them they fell apart where the leather meets the rubber. Never had a pair of boots do this. I've read other complaints about this and North Face says it's a storage issue… Full review

The North Face Women's Chilkats

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Same problem :( All of a sudden I looked down while carrying wood in and the toe of my right boot split apart as I bent my foot while walking!  I had previously raved about these boots to anyone and everyone. I loved the comfort and warmth. Sadly neither of those factors matter if you can't keep your feet dry - soooooo disappointed. :( Full review

Columbia Men's Bugaboot Plus II Omni-Heat

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Just awesome! These are just awesome. Super lightweight! Feels like I have a pair of those stupid boat shoes on, as far as weight goes. They lace up high, and keep your foot and ankle secure and braced well. They also grip very well, but do not have a rigid sole. I have taken these out countless times snowshoeing, hiking, working, you name it. I had these on while summitting, with windchill it was -35 degrees F, but my feet were dry and warm. They are not super insulated, but are lined with a reflective… Full review

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Fell apart in my closet!!!!!! They fell a part in my closet after a couple years of very light use!!!! Full review

Salomon Men's Toundra Mid WP

rated 5 of 5 stars The best winter boot in my life! I was looking for warm boots to walk in town, with usual winter temperatures from -20 to -30 °C (-4 to -22 °F) in my area. I've bought them last year with a huge discount on eBay, 1,5 size larger than my own feet. To counter all that free toe space, I tie them up tightly at shins. A hook on the back of this boot comes handy to put it on. Laces are very long, which is good for a boot this long, quicklace would be at a disadvantage here. To take tham off you need… Full review
