I bought these boots initially because of the fit and because they were gore-tex. They fit my size 12 feet perfectly except for a little slip in the heel. I put a pair of Vasque insoles in them and they snugged right up. I had alot of time to break them in but it wasn't needed. They've been worn almost continually for 2 years now to work, local hiking on trails and some alpine climbing to 12,000ft in snow. The Gore-tex is awesome, especialy when combined with great quality leather. My feet have never seem a drop of water even while standing in a stream for an hour. My brother-in-law wears these same boots while standing in underground vaults ankle deep all day and says the same thing. Great boots, get them on sale at REI for $149.00
