Celebrating 10,000 reviews (and counting)
On February 26 Trailspace published its 10,000th independent outdoor gear review with a user review of Garmont's Passo hiking boots submitted by Johnno, a.ka. John Stewart of Melbourne, Australia.
Pursuing a geoscience Ph.D., Johnno's work involves a lot of outdoor activity in remote and rugged desert and mountainous terrain. "I just happened to see my old boots on the office floor and decided that I'd do some mucking around on the Internet to see if anyone else had something to say about them." he says. "I was surprised at how easy it was to leave a review - I wouldn't have done it otherwise." The rest is history.
We can't say for sure if 10,000 reviews is the most of any outdoor gear review site, but it does amount to a vast wealth of shared experience. And that information is thanks to backcountry users like Johnno and you who've taken the time to write a review and share your outdoor gear experiences with other hikers, climbers, and backpackers.
So thank you to Johnno and everyone who has submitted one of those 10,000-plus gear reviews (and counting).
