Affiliations: I was a sponsored educator with Leave No Trace for 3 years and was outfitted by The North Face, MSR, Thermarest, Chaco, Subaru and Smartwool during that time. About

I am the Director of Recreation at San Juan College and have been leading outdoor adventure trips and teaching outdoor recreation courses for over 14 years.  I have a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a M.S. Ed in Outdoor Recreation from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. I am a former Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer for the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and was an instructor/trip leader at Southeast Missouri State University for six years before that.  I also writes hiking guides for Falcon Guides, am a Wilderness First Responder, a certified AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor, a Level II Challenge Course Practioner, and am a certifying instructor for the Wilderness Education Association (WEA).  I teach Environmental Ethics, Expedition Backpacking, and International Mountaineering at San Juan College and enjoy bagging peaks, hiking long trails, highpointing, and spending time with my wife, daughter and dog out on the trails.
