Former Adirondack guide who still loves to hike, snowshoe and backpack, much of it solo but in the last few years have been mentoring 2 teen brothers who lost their Dad [my friend] to cancer.
Though I can't often afford to travel to them in the Adirondacks, I have taken them on multiple hikes, snowshoe trips, campouts all season stuff, introduced them to crampons and orienteering etc.
Its cool to hike with teens who can start their own fire, build a shelter with tarp and fallen tree and more. I just wish I could run as fast :)
