MY FAMILY IS GOING TO BE DOING A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP IN EARLY SEPTEMBER, AND I WILL BE IN SAWTOOTH FOR A DAY AND YELLOWSTONE FOR 3. CURIOUS IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY OFF THE BEATEN PATH TRAILS THAT I COULD TAKE THE LITTLE ONES (AGES 3-10) AND THE WIFE ON THAT WOULD REALLY GET TO SEE SOMETHING SPECIAL. LAKES, VIEWS, ROCK FORMATIONS, ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT!

All of it is off the beaten path and spectacular.  Just pick one and look at the rest.  Ninety percent of the use in Yellowstone is within 1/4 mile of a road.  Just look out for wildlife especially moose in wet areas, and bison the rest of the time.

You might be a little early for the elk rut, the most spectacular time to be in Yellowstone.  It typically starts around Sept 18.
