Arc'teryx Khamsin 62

rated 3.0 of 5 stars

The Khamsin 62 has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best weekend packs for 2024.

Pack suspension is comfortable, but has little adjustment, so getting the right size is crucial. Foam used in padding is firm, yet quite comfortable. The "Y" frame suspension is quite effective for transferring loads to hips. This frame design is light, but nothing else on the pack is. If this is Arc'Teryx's ultralight, no frills pack, why did they put a huge #10 size zipper down the side? This feature does not belong on an alpine pack. This is the kind of zipper you would normally find on a heavy duty duffle bag. I have removed it and replaced with fabric. I also cut out the extra straps for a fanny pack, water bottle holder and heavy crampon protection fabric on front of pack (just put the points facing out!). Removal of these items and trimming down the excessive webbing has dropped the total weight from 4 to 3 lbs.
