Berghaus Mera Peak II Jacket

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Mera Peak II Jacket has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best waterproof jackets for 2024.

This is an absolutely brilliant jacket. New version of old faviourite. Used on Kev Reynolds Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route in late 2004. Light, squashes down for easy packing, excellent waterproof qualities. Windproof. Good cut and simple pockets. Good light, wired hood. Zips and poppers easy to use one handed.

Withstands serious windchill/snow conditions when worn over two light base layers and a midweight Berhaus (Activity) fleece. Maybe could be an inch or so longer. Still pretty new so will have to wait to see how long waterproofing performance lasts. Have had Salewa, Keela and La Fuma jackets, all good but nowhere near this.

Fabric: Multi layer Gore tex
Price Paid: 210

Absolutely fantastic coat, wind/waterproof, generous cut, excellent quality. There would be no other option if this coat had core vents in it. You cannot go wrong with this. It will make your old North Face or similar coat seem like a joke.

Fabric: Gore-Tex/Taslan
