In September 2009, I had the opportunity to take a prototype of the Rocket Tent on an attempted traverse of a yet to be skied section of the Andes in Chile. The traverse was unsuccessful, but it wasn't because of the tent.

This tent is truly revolutionary. It is light, strong, and comfortable. Carry a four-season shelter, but not carrying additional poles is awesome. Using an avalanche probe, and ski poles makes for an incredibly strong structure. While the fabric is not breathable, the design of the tent allows for good air movement, and it was surprisingly dry inside.

This tent is certainly not designed for the weekend-the-lake camping trip. It is a high-mountain-moving-fast-going-far kind of tent.

The prototype was a little rough around the edges, but the primary features were fantastic. Now, I have a production model, and all of the rough edges have been smoothed out. It is now coming up on September 2010, and I will again be testing and reviewing the tent for a month of ski mountaineering in the Andes.
