I love the Thunderscout! I took a long time picking a jacket and looked at many others; including, Red Ledge Thunderlight, Marmot Precip, HH Zero-G, Lowe Alpine LT, etc. All nice jackets, but the Thunderscout was the best value deal.

At normal MSRP of $55-59 this jacket is a good deal. At a closeout price of $35 on Cabelas, it was an amazing deal. The Thunderscout is an excellent lighter-weight, packable jacket for hiking. The jacket is fairly light, but offers a nice quality nylon shell (some of the lightweight packables seem to be a little flimsy) and a mesh lining. It packs down really well and the Omni Tech layer delivers what it promises in terms of waterproof-breathability performance.
