Marmot Activent Anorak

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Activent Anorak has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best waterproof jackets for 2024.

This jacket does breathe well. I find it well suited for summer peak bagging hikes. The hood is very large (to accommodate a climbing helmet. The center/belly pocket is handy for maps/small snacks. The specs say it weighs 8 oz, I weighed it in at about 9 oz, so pretty close. The fabric seems to be fairly rip resistant, I had to do some off trail bushwacking and it held up without any rips. I wouldn't recommend it for climbing through a chimney though.

The jacket cuts wind quite well, I wore it above 12,000 feet and it shed the cold breeze. I haven't tried it in the rain, but I did pour some water on it, and it rolled right off. My only concern is the loss of water resistance if I wash it. Mine is developing a nasty B.O. smell from all the aerobic activity in it. Anyways, all in all a good summer jacket.
