Merrell Nova GTX

rated 3.0 of 5 stars

The Nova GTX has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best trail shoes for 2024.

I bought these boots when I didn't know what the heck I was doing. The fit was a bit weird for my narrow foot and I actually bought a size too small (as I later found out).

But they have worked out moderately well. The sole is fairly stiff so they are good on longer heavier hikes. But at the same time they are light enough to use for day hiking.

Like more gore-tex, you stay dry until immersion. I would suggest these boots to the moderate hiker or weekend warrior. I have to give them kudos for life-span though. They can take a beating!

The sole on my Merrell completely delaminated while I was on the trail. There were still plenty of thread left on them but I guess age weakened the glue. The boots were about 8 years old.
