duogrid canvas with canvas bound seams makes this pack the most waterproof i've ever come across - pissing down from aspiring hut to french ridge and no need for a packliner!

i've only had it for 6 or so trips but the harness with its precompressed foams is very comfy and stable.

i had a macpac torre for 5 years and my only complaints were the leaky seams (nylon bound, we use packliners down under though) and the covering on the harness straps frayed after 4 years.

the md pack has so many neat features for alpinism (spindrift valence, hydration sleeve, crampon pocket, axe/probe tubes, gear loops on waist strap, etc) that i struggle to use them.

so far...very good.
