Mountain Hardwear SL Bivy

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The SL Bivy has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best bivy sacks for 2024.

This bivy is a good value and a good choice for combination use. This bivy is open at the hood so there is no fabric over the face -- a feature you do not need when under a tarp or in a shelter. The SL Bivy is very well made with internal straps for a sleeping pad and loops on the ends for staking and hanging. The zipper system is very easy to use with compatible zippers. It works fine with my Cats Meow sleeping bag. The shell is windproof and very water resistant though not made for total exposure to rain. The fabric on the bottom is the toughest I have seen on a bivy sack and you really can leave your ground cloth at home if you are so inclined. Basically an excellent product with a very good price. My sack is a left hand zip but they are available in the right hand zip as well.
