Mystery Ranch

Dana Gleason and Renee Sippel-Bake, co-founders of Dana Design, started Mystery Ranch in 2000. The two have worked together since 1978, when Gleason hired Sippel-Bake as a production sewer with his first company, Kletterwerks. In 1995 they sold Dana Design to the K2 Corporation.

Eventually Gleason returned to pack design to make a hip sack for his daughter Alice. That hip sack was the beginning of what would become Mystery Ranch's patented lumbar wrap, with designs for the NICE frame and SATL to follow. In 2000, Gleason and Sippel-Bake officially came out of retirement to found Mystery Ranch and return to making backpacks built on a heritage of function, comfort, quality, and durability.

In 2004, Mystery Ranch began making custom packs for Navy SEALs, and today Mystery Ranch builds specialized packs and load carriage systems for the mountains, hunting, military, wildland fire, and law enforcement customers.
