Thunderbolt Sportswear Mark II Original Jean

Buyer be warned, this is a horrible company. Overpriced pants and zero customer service. Buyer be warned, this is a horrible company. They are happy to take your money but will not return your calls or emails if you have any problems with your order. The Mark II Jeans are incredibly overpriced for the quality. If you buy anything from them, be prepared to live with it. The 90-day return policy is a joke as their customer service will just ignore you. Full review

Hilltrek Clova SV Breeches

The Clova SV Breeches are hard wearing 3/4 length pants made from windproof and water resistant Ventile in a classic breech style from Scottish manufacturer Hilltrek. They are ideal for hiking in temperate climates where some wind and rain can be expected. Hilltrek offer a range of options for their breeches and a made to measure service. Increasingly, in these times of rising environmental awareness, the question is often asked on the forums: I want to make my backpacking more environmentally friendly,… Full review

Moonstone Gore-Tex Shell Pant

These pants have survived almost 20 years of use and still go with me on every day trip or backpack outing. These have been a durable, real good shell pant. Easy to undo the waist when you need to go, easy to adjust for airflow into the pants at any place along the legs. They stuff into the backpack anywhere, use them to soften the load against your back. These are a shell pant, ripstop with Gore-tex. They are windproof and mostly rainproof. I have never treated them with water repellent, and they… Full review

Montane Men's Terra Pants

Terra pants are designed to be lightweight, hard wearing, weather resistant, highly breathable trousers suitable for a range of outdoor sports. They may be lightweight, but they carry a hefty price tag. Not wanting to be dinner for ticks or to get sunburn I walk in the summer wearing trousers these days. It is not as comfortable as wearing shorts, but the "shorts and walking boots" look is not a good look and at least I know I am protected. I was drawn to the Montane Terra Pants because Montane… Full review

Fjallraven Barents Pro Trousers

Tough trekking trousers with reinforced seat and knees, six pockets, and raw-length leg endings. Though described as trekking trousers, I wear these Fjallraen Barent Pro trousers for a range of activities from hiking/trekking to working in the woods. They are more suited to cool weather as they are comparatively heavy and my pair, being black, really soak up the sun as there are no air vents. Made from tough G1000 material, the cut is excellent. This allows for free movement when walking and bending… Full review

Eddie Bauer Guide Pro Convertible Pants

Good all around convertible pant. Fabric stretches, fit is very good (lots of sizes), like this pant. These pants are great. Very versatile whether as full pants or as shorts with the legs zipped off. I wore them every day during recent a three-week rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. Whether in the raft, in the water, or during day hikes the pants performed very well. When wet they dried quickly. Stretchy fabric was a strong asset, whether in shorts mode or when lower pant legs were zipped on. Full review

World Wide Sportsman Gulf Breeze Convertible Pants

Competitive, value-priced convertible pants play hard and stand up to the activity. Options help you meet the demand of the day: long pant, capri, or shorts. Several years ago, I went on a pretty exhaustive search for women's zip-off hiking pants that would fit two criteria: my size 18 body and my tight budget. Besides being pricey, the Columbia hiking pants just did not fit me, among several other top brand pants. I finally stumbled onto the World Wide Sportsman brand pants at Bass Pro Shops. I… Full review

REI Men's Sahara Convertible Pants

These pants are great! Really high quality material. Lightweight, but they do a great job keeping the wind and cold out. Full review

Helly Hansen Odin Huginn Pant

The Helly Hansen Odin Huginn Pant is a mid-weight soft shell pant that, when layered properly, works well for all four seasons. They are both highly durable and weather resistant while still proving excellent range of motion. Soft-shells by nature are best for active pursuits where passive venting of moisture is a huge plus, and these are no different. My few small concerns—lack of a back pocket, slightly flared calf section—are small in comparison to the overwhelmingly successful overall quality… Full review
