Eureka! Canoe Pack SS75

Four-day canoe loop in Algonquin with full 24-hour thunderstorm, this pack kept my gear dry. Would rate 5 stars but the shoulder strap adjustment was a little bit lacking on the longest portages, but it is comfortable wearing while portaging a canoe. I was packed a little heavy for this trip and this pack was a workhorse. I think with some adjustment, the strap adjustments will be fine for me. Outer grab handles and top lug handles are heavy and well placed for tossing in and out of boat. This pack… Full review

Outdoor Research Dry Summit Pack LT

Great minimalist waterproof day pack. Simple and light, very underrated! I have many pieces of Outdoor Research gear, and I have been pleased with all of them. The Outdoor Research Dry Summit Pack LT does not disappoint! Might be light on features, but it checks all of the boxes if you are looking for a minimalist pack. What I like... I have been using it for a week, both as a daypack for work and used on a 5-mile day hike, and the pack performed admirably. Even though it has no internal frame or… Full review

LifeProof FRĒ Series Waterproof Phone Case

When new, the case offers admirable protection. Unfortunately, the case suffers from premature wear and allows debris/dust to collect between the screen and screen protector. I purchased this case at clearance for about $50 for my iPhone6+ around the time the iPhone 7 was released after previously using a LifeProof NÜD case with the same phone. The Nud did not adequately prevent bending of the phone resulting in "touch disease" (search it) and also blocked touch access to the edges of the screen. Full review

LifeProof FRĒ Series Waterproof Phone Case

This slim profile case protected my phone admirably, the waterproofing especially held up well, even while kayaking. Regrettably, after one year the case "bowed" and the control buttons for volume, on/off and Bixby no longer work as they don't match up with the phone's buttons. For this reason, I don't recommend buying this case. For the first year I've owned this case, it's performed admirably for my activities: daily work commute, hiking and kayaking. And the sound quality for the speaker and… Full review

Sea to Summit Big River Dry Bag

Quality bag and durable without too much weight. Just back from an 11-day trip into the Tundra North of Brooks Range, Alaska, and with rain days of 9 out of 11 these bags worked great. I used two 35L bags for my clothes and food and even the tents were soaked inside and we used a pan to bail them out every day; my stuff stayed dry. This size was perfect for the fly in a floatplane and even fit into the floatplane's floats. Not all gear impresses me, but these did their job well. They maybe even… Full review

Exped Cloudburst 25

A lightweight, completely waterproof summit and day pack that can ride in a bigger pack for doing side trips on longer hikes, doubles as a dry bag in the pack. Attention to details make it comfortable and highly functional. My wife has a habit of conveniently forgetting critical items so that she can replace them with something newer and better. For five years or so we both have been using the minimalist Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Day Packs for side trips on longer backpacking trips. On the first stopover… Full review

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Pods

Want to have the best organized pack, ability to unpack fast, pack fast in any weather condition, then these pods are for you. Organization is so good that I only have four items in my bag. Crazy eh? Ease of Use: After time, you will figure out what works in each pod.  For my large pod, I have my pillow, liner, bag, pad, sleeping clothes and spare clothes. The smaller pod holds all my other loose gear, but I also have my spare socks and fleece in this pod. Features: Waterproof material with tapered… Full review

Eureka! Terra Cotta Canoe Barrel

Gear barrel, barrel pack, canoe barrel * NOT A BEAR-PROOF BARREL * This is a 64L food-grade (HDPE) "total-opening" cylindrical plastic drum with screw-on gasketted lid. Manufactured by CURTEC, and originally used for transporting pharmaceuticals. When they are retired, EUREKA! takes these barrels, cleans them, and gives them a second life as a canoeist's gear barrel. The size and weight of gear barrels make them less than ideal for long-distance backpacking on dry land. But being waterproof gives… Full review

Aqua Quest Trail Map Case

A lightweight relatively durable and excellently waterproof case for your most important navigation aid—a map! It has versatile clip/carry options, large enough for a full trip-worth of maps, and can protect other devices like your phone. A worthy companion for wet weather trips with only some loose threads showing after 9 months of solid use - and Aqua Quest honored the warranty and sent a replacement. A one minute review... I was looking for a sturdy map case last year in preparation for a walk… Full review
